Overview
Maxwell Ugwu is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in the Interdisciplinary Materials Science program at Vanderbilt University, where he conducts research in Prof. Justus Ndukaife’s lab. His research focuses on the single-particle trapping and characterization of extracellular vesicles and nanoplastics using spectroscopic nanotweezers. By integrating advanced optical imaging with spectroscopic techniques, his work aims to advance nanoscale biochemical analysis and enable the detailed characterization of individual nanoparticles.
Maxwell has actively participated in VINSE outreach events since 2024, promoting awareness and fostering interest in nanoscience and engineering.
In addition, as a VINSE superuser, Maxwell will be providing training on the Angstrom Amod multimode deposition system, supporting the development of technical skills for thin films deposition.
